Professional, engaging lessons in creative writing and deep reading for children 8 and older by Zoom. College essays are a particular specialty.

In creative writing, students enjoy lessons targeted to their innate interests, personalities, and learning styles. We read on or beyond their reading level and supplement contemporary American prose and poetry with world literature. Students imitate certain features of what they read, in discussion with me. Students have completed novels, published short stories and poetry, and gone on to great colleges.

I love teaching rising seniors the college essay. As people use AI, many essays sound the same. The college essay is an opportunity to capture a child's unique voice. It's fun for me to help them discover themselves through discussions and writing on their values, interests, and quirks. My college essay students have gone on to colleges such as Bard, Lincoln University, Hofstra, the U of Indiana School of Music, and Pitt.​

My teaching philosophy is centered on individualized instruction for motivated students. Attention to the student writing process enables children to develop an in-depth connection to their writing, thinking, and creativity.
